Design Miami 2010

Design Miami

Visiting the exhibits of  Art Basel and Design Miami was a wonderful experience.  I started with Design Miami since my own  gallery presents 20th Century and Contemporary artist works in furniture and lighting.

Design Miami 2010 was very well conceived  and the individual presentations by galleries were all very good.  A good number of the galleries were from Paris, two presenting 20th Century pieces. Patrick Seguin’s space was designed by India Mahdavi

whom I wrote about a few months ago as she was one of the designers chosen by AD and Artcurial to represent the new decorators of France.   She has been collaborating with Seguin to better showcase pieces by Jean Royere, Le Corbusier and Jean Prouve.  Across Philippe Jousse  presented works  by Mategot,  Paulin, Le Corbusier, Perriand  among others.

I also enjoyed from Paris Galerie Kreo a great chandelier by

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and shelves who reminded me of Jacques Jarrige’s  but with an industrial point of view

From the US I liked Cristina Grajarles’ presentation which had a major emphasis on contemporary works English designer  Nigel Coates and by South Americans Sebastian Errazuriz and Pedro Barrail. Also from the US.

The big discovery for me came from Gallery Seomi from Seoul which had an extraordinary presentation of several designers including  Hun Chung Lee, Bae, Se Hwa, Kang Myung Sun and Lee Sam Woog (top of the post)
